January General Membership Meeting

January 17 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Guest Speakers
Anna Reitano, Esq., and Karl Fenske, Esq., on
“A PERSONAL VIEW of L.A. COUNTY JUSTICE FROM THE DEFENSE PERSPECTIVE.”
Ms. Reitano and Mr. Fenske, deputy public defenders, address your interests and concerns surrounding the announced new guidelines about criminal sentencing from the L.A. County District Attorney’s office, now headed by DA George Gascon.
For a little background, an L.A. Times Editorial on Dec 30, 2020, was titled “End Irrational Sentencing.” The article is a good primer on the terms you will be hearing: “determinate” and “indeterminate” sentencing and “enhancements.”

Georgia Post-Carding Update
Last week we saluted the postcarders for 4,000 cards that helped the Georgia election. Now that is old news. Here’s a new and timely appeal– the *Flip the West Anti-Sedition Postcard Campaign* to expose the seven California House GOP representatives for their extremism in supporting “the outlandish lies and untruths that will serve to only further inflame white supremacists and other far right extremists to more violence.”
The four Congressmen that our postcard team would like to focus on are:
Devin Nunes – CA22 (Tulare)
Kevin McCarthy – CA23 (Bakersfield)
Mike Garcia – CA25 (Santa Clarita)
Darrell Issa – CA50 (Vista)
Thank you to everyone who has already paid for 2021!
If you were a member in 2020, you are still a voting member even if you did not pay your 2021 dues yet. But after March 1 you will be deemed “inactive” and cannot vote on future Club measures. You may pay your dues NOW!
Dues are $35 for individuals, $70 for a family.
We also have a “Sustaining Member” Category; you can commit to $5 per month ($8 for couples/families) which will pay your yearly dues plus make a small donation. Do this via Credit Card.
